1960s Bonnie Cashin Chamois Suede Pant Suit

In soft butterscotch hued chamois suede, this pantsuit is a fine example of the practical style and sheer genius of Bonnie Cashin's designs.  The A-line tunic/coat has a tapered dolman three quarter sleeve. Welted seam edges are raw and give this a rugged and sophisticated look. Three brass turn lock closures run from the neck to the bust with the coat open from there. Seamed just below the bust,  flaring slightly from that point to the knee.  Huge oversized semi-circle patch pockets are positioned over the front hip. Coat is leather backed and unlined. The pants are flat front, have a high waist with a 14" front rise, side zipper close with and turnlock fastener at the waistband.  The legs are pieced at the thigh, somewhat wide, and straight cut, and are lined in golden yellow crepe. This suit has been professionally leather cleaned, however a faint shadow remains over the left breast of the tunic and freckles on the lower left below the pocket, and the pants have scattered spots which are mostly concealed beneath the tunic, and some dark smudges at the hem of the pants. Not perfect, but still totally wearable, and we're probably making it sound worse than it looks.  Bust 37", waist 39", hip 43", sleeve (center back to sleeve hem) 27", length 35". Pants waist 26", hip 35", inseam 27.5". The tunic/coat is best on no larger than a modern size 6, the pants, a modern size 4 or slender 6.  $325
