1970s Koos van den Akker Suit

Taking inspiration from fabric, Koos van den Akker was known as the master of wearable art, creating highly individual pieces adorned with fabric collages.  His designs were typically conservatively styled suits, but the patchwork collages made them anything but conservative. A heathered charcoal gray wool, the collarless jacket is piped in black satin, which serves as nice foil to the diagonally slanted lines of the collage on the modified kilt skirt. The skirt is an unlined wrap style, with a button closure on the waistband and bar hook closures at the hip and hidden inseam side pockets, with a collage in colors of  peacock blue, violet, emerald, russet, beige and black.  Also bearing a Kane's of Chicago label, both pieces are in excellent condition. Jacket measures:  Bust 36", waist 34", hip 36", shoulder 16", sleeve 23", length 22".  Skirt waist 27", hip 36", length 28". $420
