This little judgment will undoubtedly forever keep us from entering the hallowed halls of vintage fashion experts who think there is only one Halston label worth having, but we will boldly risk their contempt and say that we think there are redeeming qualities in some of Halston's less respected vintage labels as well. Sure, the guy got a little over zealous in marketing his name all over the planet, but hey, America is top dog in capitalistic, consumer-driven countries, so can you blame Halston's succumbing to the pressure? In 1979 Halston Sportswear was launched - a bridge line which unfortunately lasted only a couple of years, primarily because Halston wasn't all that keen on designing separates and, being a perfectionist and control-freak, he wouldn't let anyone else design for him. And what a shame, because the designs were great and well made. This fabulous skirt suit is from that line. A wool and alpaca variegated tweed of taupe-gray and ivory. The cut is pure Halston - streamlined and clean - a single breasted, two button jacket and a straight skirt with slanted hip pockets and a side zip closure. A fine example of Halston's dedication to classic, timeless design. Jacket measures bust 36", waist 32", hip 38", shoulder 17", sleeve 23", total length 24". Skirt measures waist 26", hip 38", length 28.5". Skirt is lined in taupe gray silk, jacket is lined in a taupe-gray synthetic and both pieces are in excellent condition. $285
