1980s Sonia Rykiel Ivory Wool Knit Suit

Nicknamed the “Queen of Knitwear”, French designer Sonia Rykiel has long been a popular designer among American women. Her knits as well as her more structured career clothes, are always sensual and body conscious. This beautiful suit, in a winter white mid-weight wool knit, is feminine and sensual without being too clingy. The short, straight jacket has an asymmetrical lapel and inverted ‘V’cut front. Black and gold ‘SR’ insignia buttons run diagonally from the left shoulder, with the last two buttons being decorative only and not actually fastening to the other side. Simple round neckline, and the shoulder emphasized with pads. A welted pocket at each hip balance the strong shoulder line. The sleeve has three buttons at the cuff. The full skirt falls to the lower calf, has bound slanted  pockets at the hip and a side zipper with a button closure at the waistband. Made in France by Sonia Rykiel, both pieces are fully lined and in excellent condition. Jacket measures: Bust 40", Waist 38”, Shoulder 17”, Sleeve 23”,Length 18”.  Skirt waist 28", hip 46", length36".   $175
