Women's clothing of the 1950s, for all intents and purposes, held the last vestiges of dressing with everyday femininity. Gloves, hats, and dainty little purses that actually served to accessorize the clothing, instead of the tendency toward sheer functionality inherent in modern accessories. In the '50s, no well-groomed woman dared leave the house without appropriately accessorized attire - dictated by the time of day - morning, afternoon, or evening wear. Even a simple day outfit of the 1950s would be deemed 'dressy' by today's standards. So it is with this precious little daytime skirt and top ensemble. A lacy black ribbon cap sleeved top buttons up the back and is edged at the neck and sleeve with a dainty scalloped trim. A wide stretchy knit waistband effectively cinches the waist without the constriction of a belt. Straight pencil skirt closes with a side zip and button closure, and has a walking pleat at the rear. Simple, elegant, and oh so feminine, this outfit is suitable for either day or evening these days. Made by Suzette, both pieces are lined and in excellent condition. Top measures: bust 36", waist 24", length 19". Skirt waist is 28", hip 38", length 26". $125
