1970s Adri Tunic, Maxi Skirt and Sash

Claire McCardell was the inspiration behind Adrienne Steckling’s early designs. Like McCardell, Adri designed for herself, creating clothes that were soft and feminine and at the same time comfortable and wearable. This three piece ensemble is just that. The long A-line maxi skirt in a deep plum cotton poplin has an easy, elasticized waist, inseam hip pockets and a modest 15” slit from the hem on either side. The coordinating long sleeved rayon tunic is relaxed and soft with a dropped shoulder, in an Ikat print of deep and medium plum, with touches of forest green, rust and brown on a tan background. Stand-up, open collar has a deep neckline that closes from décolleté nearly to the waist with three buttons and loops, and has a deep slit (again, nearly to the waist), at either side.  With an elasticized waist and sleeve cuff, the look is very fluid and free with a Moroccan feeling to it. The sash measures a generous 76” by 7.5” and matches the skirt. Will accommodate sizes from a tall modern size 6 to slender size 10. Excellent, unworn condition with the original hang tags attached. Tunic measures bust 38", waist 24" to 34", sleeve 25", length 50".  Skirt waist 24" to 35", hip 42", length 42". sold
