1980s Azzedine Alaia Ribbed Sweater and Skirt

We are big time control freaks. We once heard a former supermodel from the 1970s – well, you still see her in magazines, catalogs, and television commercials, so she can’t be all that former –reveal that on days when she is feeling particularly ‘out of control’ she wears two pairs of Hanes Alive pantyhose to hold it all in. Now that’s the kind of honesty we love to hear from women we think are perfect! Azzedine Alaia understands the issue of control completely. His pieces are snug, yes, but never tacky or slutty. You never feel exposed because they control absolutely. Alaia knits actually make your body look firm and sleek, and are infinitely more comfortable than wearing a pair of Hanes or two. The color of a good, aged merlot, the soft ribbed wool and nylon mock turtleneck pullover is waist length and trimmed at the neck, waist and cuff by a flat knit band. The skirt is also ribbed vertically, with horizontal ribbing on the waistband. No icky fasteners on either piece, just pull on and go. Fabulous paired together, but each piece is equally great on its own. Wear the skirt with a silk blouse or tank, and team the top with hip hugging vintage Levis or high waist wool pants. Both pieces are in excellent condition. Measurements stated are taken flat and unstretched:  Sweater - bust 36", waist 24", shoulder 15", sleeve 23", length 19".  Skirt waist 22", hip 27", length 21". Best on a modern 6 or slender 8. $315
