Kansai Yamamoto’s designs are not shy. Like most
artists, the designs of Kansai Yamamoto (even his clothes for Japan’s
Barbie doll) are not shy nor run of the mill, as this cotton pullover
will attest. A loosely woven knit in red and white, the front has an
embroidered appliqué of a dragon head in abstract with jewel hued
thread. As well, Kansai inevitably does something different with the
inherent structure of even the simplest of his pieces. Here he added
textural interest with an open weave on the back of the sweater, criss-crossed
with knit bands, almost like suspenders. The body of the sweater
has a contrasting weave on the arms, and solid red ribbing at the
shoulder, cuff and waist. Made for Kansai’s O2 line, it has a slightly
dropped shoulder with pads, and is in excellent condition. Bust
46", waist 30", shoulder 21", sleeve 23", length
25". $195
