1960s Rudi Gernreich Gold Knit Top

A pioneer of space age-inspired designs, Rudi Gernreich was always way ahead of his time, so it makes perfect sense that  this top makes us think of another phenomenon of the Sixties that was way ahead of its time - the original Star Trek series, and specifically it reminds us of the sleek uniform of  Lt. Uhura.  In gold lurex stretch knit, it's sexy and slim fitting with princess seaming and a full length back zipper closure. The sleeves have a split cuff with hidden covered snaps, and the hem on the top is unfinished. We love this with coffee colored Alaia high waisted knit pants. Flat, unstretched measurements are bust 34", waist 26.5", shoulder 15", sleeve 21", length 19". Made for Harmon Knitwear, there is a small fray at the top back of the neck, otherwise it is in excellent condition. $185
