Vintage Embroidered Silk Peasant Shirt

In our modern age of mass machine produced imitations, the textiles and ethnic costume of many countries are rare and beautiful things. Whether the origin is Mexican, Greek, South American or Eastern European - the quality of the hand work is usually beyond compare. This particular shirt is from Sofia, Bulgaria - an intricate hand embroidered pattern in threads of burnt orange, black, gold, olive green, blue and white on ivory silk crepe de chine  - it has the look of a delicately woven Caucasian rug. Split neck with burnt orange tassel ties at the collar bone, and a full sleeve that is slightly gathered at the bicep and a snap closure on the barrel cuff. Bust to 46", hip to 50", shoulder 17", sleeve 24", length 22". There are a few scattered pinholes in the silk, but truthfully this shirt is so amazing - they are easily overlooked. $260
