It isn't for nothing that Sonia Rykiel was dubbed 'The Queen of Knitwear' in the mid 1960s. Knits and jerseys have been favorite fabrics in Rykiel's designs, and her clothes have always displayed a certain body consciousness - the result of both her choice of fabric and the designs themselves. With an emphasis on femininity, certain themes and details have been a recurring part of her collections - cropped wide-leg pants, bows and reversed seams - to name three, and all are present in this adorable little set. In a red and tan striped cotton jersey, the top has a wide neck with black jersey trim, and a flirty little bow accent at the left clavicle. The black jersey also trims the hem, with black lace accenting the cuff of the elbow length sleeve. The pants are full and cropped, with an easy elasticized waist and inseam pockets at either hip. With exposed seams on both the top and the pants, the look is entirely girly, totally Rykiel. Flat, unstretched measurements are: Top: Bust and waist 34", sleeve (center back to cuff) 17", length 19.5". The pants measure waist 24", inseam 21", length 30". $155
