1960s Hardy Amies Plaid Blouse

You've gotta hand it to the Brits, they've  produced some pretty amazing things, including David Beckham, Hardy Amies and Viyella.  Beckham needs no explanation, so on to the other two. Sir Hardy Amies is best known as one of the official dressmakers to Queen Elizabeth of England, whom he began dressing when she was a mere Princess. Amies also counted Princess Diana and Vivien Leigh among his many clients.  Amies' designs have always been about classic tailoring and fit, created in fine tweeds and woolen fabrics - essentially what the traditional British look is all about. Viyella is the trademark name for another British innovation - a soft wool and cotton fabric that feels like a lightweight flannel.  This blouse has all the elements of a classic British look - shirt styling with delicate buttons running down the front and an attached tie neckline, inverted pleat at the center back, buttoned cuff and a forest green, navy, sand and red plaid Viyella fabric.  Paired with a tweed suit, you'll be properly attired for a weekend at Balmoral. Bust measures 36", hip 38", shoulder 16", sleeve 23", length 25". Excellent condition. $65
