We never cease to be absolutely amazed at the ingenuity of the Mexican people. Irregardless of where you stand on immigration, you only need to take a short trip over the border to see evidence of how Mexican Indians take what they have on hand and adapt it to uses we would never dream of. On camping trips in the early 1960s, we would bring home the most fabulous little trinkets - tiny mouse pins made from wood and rabbit fur with leather tails; pig-shaped zippered coin purses in hairy cowhide - all handcrafted and ingenious. This bracelet is fashioned from twenty centavos dated 1958, linked together with soldered loops and twisted copper wire, with a single larger centavo coin dated 1951 dangling from the end. The closure is a bar hook soldered onto the last two coins. With solder visible on the larger coin, it's obviously handcrafted, ethnic and utterly fabulous. Measures 7 1/2" long and roughly 3/4" wide, with the largest coin having a diameter of 1". sold
