We are immensely amused by those commercials encouraging everyone
to send in their old 'scrap' gold for cash. People who know
anything about things that hold their value have long advocated buying
gold for investment purposes - remember the Krugerrand in the Seventies?
And now that gold is hovering around $900 an ounce, they're probably all
saying 'I told you so', long about now. But sending your gold off in an
envelope and hoping for a check in the mail? Hmmm - sounds risky to us.
We've always found a better use for all the jewelry that ex's have
lavished upon us over the years, and have never thought twice about
melting down rings and necklaces from past lovers to make something new
and wearable out of it. As a matter of fact, most of the 'good' jewelry
we now own has been recycled a time or two. 'Unsentimental b***ch', you
might be thinking. Suit yourself - go ahead and keep that itty
bitty opal ring and those gold unicorn and heart charms in your jewelry
box, girly - see if we care. But we'll be the first to admit that there
are some pieces you never want to dispose of - like this beautiful 14 KT
gold necklace. Comprised of a chain, smooth bar and brush textured bone
links in yellow gold, it is simple, elegant and timeless, and
undoubtedly something you will wear for years to come whether or not you
make it a present to yourself (as we always do), or nudge someone
special into buying it for you. Chain is 24" in length, with a jump ring
clasp, stamped 14 Kt and Italy, weighs about 11.339 grams $315
