1960s Christian Dior Fawn Felt Helmet

Christian Dior dominated hat couture for a decade after the launch of his New Look in 1947. By the late 1950s, the space race was launched, and the fascination for anything that looked like Sputnik was gaining momentum.  In a fuzzy fawn hued Italian wool felt, this contoured helmet design by Dior was evocative of the sleek, spare lines of  the space age style that became the rage of the 1960s.  The hat has an inside circumference of 22", measures about 6.5" high at the front with a very slight little upturn in front and slopes toward the back at the crown.  In excellent condition and bears a Miss Dior Christian Dior label. sold
