The boater style hat was derived from the headgear of French
sailors worn during the late 1700 and early 1800s. We
think this hat in particular, with it's grosgrain tassel accent evokes
the sailor look, and can't help but picture it worn with a striped
boatneck t shirt and a pair of wide sailor pants. Fashioned in glossy
black straw edged in black grosgrain, with a grosgrain band and a double
tassel off the right side, it was made by milliner Sally Josephs-Victor,
also the label she designed under from 1934 through the mid 1960s).
The crown has a
circumference of 22", and is 3" high with a 3" deep brim, and is in excellent
condition and bears the Sally Victor New York label. $145
