1950s Catalina Floral Print Cotton Sun & Swim Suit

In an age where we look to see what the lycra/spandex content is on a label before we even consider taking the garment bearing it into the dressing room (virtual or otherwise), we have to take our hat off to our mothers and grandmothers who wore swimwear without a smidgen of stretch to the fabric and had to literally zip themselves into it. How conducive to picturing yourself  in a Corona beer commercial -  lounging on a hot beach with a bucket full of cold ones beside your chair -  could that have been? Yes, it's true that women today are spoiled by the wealth of selection they have to choose from in clothing, and in our opinion, there is nothing that quite points to that better than vintage swimwear - like this adorable sun and swim suit.  Fashioned in a large floral printed cotton in shades of pink, aqua and seafoam with touches of lime green and white, it has all the details that make us wonder how they did it. With a piped waist  accented with a cute little bow in front; a boned lace cup; adjustable buttoned lingerie straps; a shorts-styled leg over a white cotton bloomer, elasticized smocked sides; and of course, the ever present zipper and boning in the back, it has an unmistakable vibe of  Don Henley's 'Boys of Summer' video.  All you need are Ray Ban Wayfarer's and you're looking like you came straight off La Jolla Shores circa 1958. Bust is 34" with stretch to accommodate about another 2", waist measures 24" to 26", hip is 38". Excellent condition $95
