1970s Catalina Yellow Halter Swimsuit

The 'perfect swimsuit' is an illusory thing, indeed. We're not in bad shape (especially for our age), but painful experience has taught that 'more is better' when it comes to swimsuits. It's a given that women of a certain size and age should probably forever forget about getting into a bikini again. That "high-cut" leg that allegedly elongates the leg and makes the thigh look slimmer? It only makes us look and feel like we're just offering even more cellulite to condemning eyes. And who in God's name decided that underwires and padding in swimsuits was a 'Wonder-ful' thing? Give us the good old swimsuits of our youth, like this cute little halter suit from the 1970s. No underwire or padded cup to inflate your God-given shape. The cut of the leg opening hits at the top of the thigh, not the hip bone.   The bottom has what is known today as a "full cut", but back in the day full cut was the only cut and you weren't constantly tugging your suit over your cheeks - and who the hell really looks good in a Brazilian cut, anyway? V-cut neckline gathers and ties between the boobs for a keyhole, and the halter strap ties around the neck  Made by Catalina, it is best on a modern size 4 or very slender 6, Has a faint dye migration on the bum and a tiny rough patch on the seat, otherwise, pretty darned good condition. $70
