1960s White Jantzen Swimcap |

The little silicon swim caps you see on Olympic swimmers like Michael Phelps and Dara Torres are designed to reduce the drag hair creates in the water. Swim caps used to be worn by women for hygenic reasons (ie, eliminating masses of hair in the filtering system) and to keep the hair dry. We always hated the damn things, but ya gotta admit there's nothing like a vintage swimcap to really cop that vintage look at the pool. This white rubber swimcap has a nubby textured stripe pattern on it, a face framing 'widow's peak' and the adjustable and removable chin strap (in case you're going to swim that Channel). Made by Jantzen, it says it fits all head sizes and is in excellent, apparently unworn condition. $55
