1940s Floral Print Silk Pajamas

What a pity p.j.'s today usually mean sloppy cotton pants and a wife beater tank top. From an era when you dressed in your best, even (or maybe especially) for bed, these girly pajamas are fashioned in a pastel floral printed silk charmeuse in muted shades of lilac, blush pink, gold, white and a touch of pea green on an ecru ground.  The bodice has a faux surplice cut, edged in a lavender looped trim, a vee neckline, with a deeper vee in the back, gathered into the modified empire waistline, with ties at the side waist to tie in the back. The pajama pants are very full, with an elasticized waist in back, and seams down the back of the legs, and a dropped rise. Picot finished edges.  There is a mend on the left rear shoulder, just beneath the seam,  pictured below.   Bust measures 39", 30" at the seam beneath the bustline, 24" long.  Pants waist is 29" to 35", 39" waist to hem, rise 18" inseam 22".  $145
