1950s Shell Embellished Linen Hand Bag and Hat

When we were little, we collected shells at the beach, always looking for that one particular shell that would make all others pale in comparison.  Looks like we were searching in the wrong place! A multitude of different shells are dyed and arranged to create a brilliant bouquet of vividly colored flowers.  The body of the bag and hat are  unbleached linen, with the shells glued around the the entire perimeter of the hat and on the back side of the bag. The bag has a twist-knob closure in front, with a full length slip pocket inside the bag. White enameled grommets attach the handle to the top of the bag, as well as hold the bag together at the bottom of the side gusset. The bag measures 11" wide, 9" high, and 3.25" deep.  The hat has an inside circumference of 20" measured above the brim.  Both pieces are in excellent, unworn condition with minimal shell loss. $220
