Maybe it's living in California that's done it, but somewhere along the line we've developed a monstrous intolerance to cigarette smoking - the health risks, the smell (we were really only fond of the smell of one particular burning leaf anyway), the entire filthy habit. But that isn't to say that we haven't always found cigarette cases totally cool. Perhaps one of the reasons for our disenchantment with cigarette smoking is that there is no mystique surrounding it anymore. The ritual of reaching for your ciggy case with manicured fingers and daintily extracting a Virginia Slims from within and waiting coyly for your date to light you up. Today girls bum a smoke and a light, then flick the awful thing to the ground when they're finished. Where's the grace in that? Fortunately, you don't have to smoke to appreciate this Whiting & Davis gold mesh cigarette case - and we can think of a hundred other things you can neatly tuck inside. Measuring roughly 5.5" by 3.5", it has a twist knob closure at the top, and is lined in peach faille. Made by Whiting and Davis, there is a bit of fraying of the lining at the top of the frame, and some of the mesh has oxidized and darkened (but really only visible in certain light). $75
