1950s Cognac Caiman Handbag

Crocodiles, alligators and caimans all belong to the same reptile family, referred to as crocodilians, and have skins that are similar in appearance and texture. The reptiles in Central and South America are caimans, and that's what this bag is fashioned from. The color of aged cognac, this beautiful bag is designed in a duo compartment accordion style, with a front flap with a gold-toned hinged closure trimmed in skin. The tapered, under the arm length strap attaches to the top of the bag with hinged gold toned hardware.  The interior is lined in buff colored nubuck with three slip pockets on the sides, and one full length zippered pocket dividing the compartments.  Still has its little nubuck leather coin purse. Made in Argentina, this bag has a rich, warm, glossy patina and is in excellent condition. A good sized bag, it measures 12" wide by 8.5" high by 3" deep, with a 7” drop on the handle. $310
