With all due respect to Diane von Furstenberg, her vintage wrap
dresses really can't compare to one by Halston. The master at using
single pieces of fabric - folding and cutting them on the bias to create
supple, flowing designs that undulate on the body - this wrap dress is
one such example. In a hothouse red wool/angora knit that is soft as a
baby's behind, this wrap
dress is cut with minimal seaming, in fact, there are just two -
running the length of either side of the dress from the end of the
dolman sleeve, up and down the side to the hem. This dress literally
envelopes you, and makes you feel, as the legendary Martha Graham once
said about a Halston design, 'as if you had always worn it'.
Unlined, it has an elastic casing at the waist with a couple of hook
closures, and that's it. A long, skinny tie belt wraps at the
waist. Inseam pockets at either hip. Flat, unstretched measurements are: Bust to 42",
waist 30", sleeve center back to end of sleeve is 31", length 45".
Excellent condition. $325
