A melange of fabric treatments come together in this beautiful
Geoffrey Beene gown. The bodice is constructed from a diamond
stitched black panne velvet, which extends from the neckline to the
waist, almost like a breast plate, side panels of blue and black dot
panne velvet form the side, with a deeply cut in shoulder. Dolman
sleeves are fashioned from a fine dotted black tulle. A narrow
strip of tulle is inset at the waist between the bodice and the skirt,
and lined in nude silk chiffon, so it gives just the illusion of
a bare midriff, which is infinitely better than actually revealing
it. The full skirt is fashioned from a fine silk voile, gathered into
the waist and falling in soft folds to the hem, with a wide, curved band
of a a larger dotted black tulle inserted midway down the skirt, over a
layer of black silk chiffon. All the seams are finished with a fine
eyelash fringed lace trim. The bust measures 36", waist 30", sleeve
center back to end of sleeve 33", length 62".
Also bearing a Neiman Marcus label, it is in excellent condition. $625
