1970s Royal Blue Beaded Jersey Wrap Gown

An otherwise simple jersey dress is given the royal treatment with an embellishment of white and silver beading on the edges of the bodice and at the sleeve cuff.  The beading accomplished in the Sixties and early Seventies in British Crown Colony Hong Kong was about the best there was, and this piece shows it - a beautiful complement to the royal blue matte jersey, neither too heavy nor chintzy. The jersey is supple and the design is inherently sensual - a wrap style anchored at the waist with a series of covered snaps, falling softly from a slightly gathered waist in a column to the floor. The sleeves taper to an invisible zipper closure at the cuff. Self lined through the bodice, the skirt is unlined and has hidden inseam pockets at either hip. The bust of the dress measures 36" at rest, waist 28", shoulder 15", sleeve 25", length 56". Made in British Crown Colony Hong Kong for Victoria Royal, Ltd., this dress is in excellent condition. $285
