1970s Ossie Clark Yellow Moss Crepe Dress

Demure isn't exactly the first word that comes to mind when you see this Ossie Clark coming at you. We think the word 'scandalous' might be more accurate, but Ossie Clark's designs were cut to perfection and his exquisite use of moss crepe resulted in dresses that were really masterpieces in drape and form, and look amazing on the human form. The line of this Ossie reflects the Edwardian revival in clothing of the Seventies, and is a fine example of Clark's ability to reveal and conceal in the same garment, . Done in a bright, clear lemon yellow moss crepe, the deep plunge front is cut all the way to the modified empire waist, but the ruching at the shoulder and gathers above the waistband allow enough coverage that unless you're really trying to, you don't have to worry about revealing too much boobie. Kind of like saying, "yeah, you can look, but you can't see." High puff shoulder, with gigot or leg-o-mutton sleeves that taper to a point over the fingertips.  We play a little more peek-a-boo with the closures - a row of self covered buttons running from the empire waist to about the knee, then is slit open from there to the hem.  The bust measures 36", high waist 30", top of shoulder to top of waistband 14", hip 36", shoulder to shoulder 14", sleeve is 31" to the tip of the point, and length 50".  Aside from a spot near the right elbow which measures about 2 cm long by 1 cm wide, this dress is in excellent condition. Bears an Ossie Clark for Radley label. $1100
