1970s Halston Cream Cashmere Long Sleeveless Dress and Cardigan Sweater

We don't usually quote reference books, but in this case we're going to, because they say it best about this cashmere set from Halston. From Halston: An American Original by Elaine Gross and Fred Rottman:

"Clearly, it is impossible to pick out one of Halston's many signature looks as being the most memorable, but certainly his way with knits is near the top of the list. He reinvented the sweater set in substantial four-to-eight ply cashmere, adding casual zippers and hoods. He took the British schoolboy look of tying a cashmere cardigan over the shoulders and made it a symbol for rejecting showier clothes in favor of simpler, softer, more contemporary ones.  Cashmere knits in general were transformed from a dowdy British commodity to a must-have fashion item...."

That about says it all.  This set consists of a sleeveless long, straight dress with a matching button up cardigan with hip pockets.  If it were our size, we wouldn't let it go.  Flat, unstretched measurements are as follows:  Dress bust: 31", waist 28", hip 32", shoulder 13", length 51" with 1.5" hem.  Cardigan bust is 35", hip 34", shoulder 13", sleeve 22", length 24.5".  Both pieces also carry a Giorgio of Beverly Hills label and are in excellent condition.  $675
