1970s Janice Wainwright Sequined Silk Tabard Gown

 

 

 

 

Like the shimmering trails of raindrops on glass, undulating rows of iridescent sequins run the full length, front and back of this stunning black gown, punctuated by an intricate sequin floral spray at the left shoulder and bottom of the back hem, and rows of tube beads at the neckline, along the sides and at the hem. In a silk/acetate/rayon blend, its a long, straight sheath in a modified medieval tabard style, it has no closures and drops on over the head, and cinches loosely at the waist with a thin cord tie either side of the waist. Elegant, tapered dolman sleeves, and fully lined in silk chiffon. Made in the UK, the bust, waist and  hip measure 38", shoulder 15", sleeve center back to end of sleeve is 31", length 52" Aside from a light spot on the sleeve about in 1/4" in diameter, and another smaller near the shoulder   this gown is in excellent condition.  $645.
