1950s Pink Linen Beaded Dress

We find there is one thing that holds true about fine vintage clothing, that being the old adage, 'They don't make 'em like they used to'.  The fact is, they can't afford to make 'em like they used to, and that is painfully obvious when you behold a dress like this one. Thousands of tiny white seed beads are meticulously hand stitched in a spray of flowers across the bodice, neckline, sleeve edge and hemline of this sublimely beautiful shell pink linen dress. Today, hand work of this caliber would be prohibitively expensive for all but the most elite among us. How they accomplished it fifty years ago is a wonder, and the mere fact that this dress is not only still intact, but beautifully wearable is testament to the skill and quality behind it.  Fashioned from Irish Moygashel linen, the dress features a wide neckline, a short sleeve, and a back zipper closure.  The bust measures 37", waist 30", hip 37", shoulder 14.5", sleeve 6", length 42". The waist has thread loops for a belt, which is missing. We'd just forget about a belt. Unlined and perfect for the warmer Summer months, this beauty is in excellent condition. $285
