1970s Crocheted Caftan

By it's very nature, the caftan is exotic and mysterious.  Conjuring images of faraway places from North Africa to South America - there's some version of the caftan in almost every culture. A versatile piece like this will serve many purposes - pool side lounge wear, casual patio party attire, heck, even for a wedding on the beach.  Natural muslin is crocheted at the neckline, sleeve cuffs and hem, with embroidered flowers on the front of the dress in sunny shades of orange, gold and yellow. Both sides are slit high, with the edges finished in crochet.  The dress is straight cut and drops on over the head, with a buttoned placket at the bodice. Hand made in Columbia by Caitela, the bust and hip measure 38", sleeve 16", length 54". Excellent condition.  $225
