1970s Mollie Parnis Pink Silk Halter Gown with Wrap

Well, here is where we have to say up front that the wrap on this one had us stumped, but more on that later. Let's first talk about the dress.  An unbelievably gorgeous confection in peony pink silk chiffon, the halter cut is thoroughly modern, while the ethereal character of the fabric gives the dress the an old Hollywood vibe -"Ginger Rogers, dance on air..." The body of the dress is pink silk chiffon over china silk, with two layers of chiffon floating over that as the skirt. Designed with a choker halter neckline, it's bare to the waist in back, with a back zipper closure over the bum, and hook and eyes at the collar.  Okay, now for that wrap.  Measuring roughly 7" wide by 83" long, it is stitched together at one end,  forming a loop, with the other ends free, so that it resembles a long, long scarf folded in half, forming two layers of chiffon. There are hooks sewn inside the dress at the bustline with corresponding eyes on the wrap, so we surmised that it hooks into place next to the bust and drapes about the shoulder, then wrapped at the waist and loosely caught in the looped end like a scarf. Sound complicated? Well, like we said, it took us a while to figure that out - and we'll welcome suggestions from the gallery.  Conceivably, you could also wear it off the shoulder, allowing it to drape at the back waist, or just wrap the thing around your waist as a scarf belt and leave your shoulders bare.  Any way you choose to wear it, you'll undoubtedly hear an inhale of awe from others when they behold (ie, get a load of ) you in this dress.  Designed by Morty Sussman for the Mollie Parnis Boutique, the bust measures 33", waist 23", hip 36", waist to hem is 41", total length 54". The dress is new and unworn with the hang tag and in excellent condition, though there is a bit of very faint yellow discoloration at the back of the waist from storage.  $475
