1980s Norma Kamali Ticking Stripe Shirt Dress

Norma Kamali's clothes have always reflected a personal side, and though her designs evoke her love of past eras, she treats them with an inventiveness that has kept her way ahead of trends and made Kamali a designer that other designers emulate. In black and white cotton ticking, with its strong, padded shoulder, fitted wasp waist and full skirt, this dress is more than a little reminiscent of  '50s Claire McCardell, yet at the same time, thoroughly modern. The dress closes from breastbone to just below the waist with snaps hidden beneath a placket, and sports patch pockets at the chest and inseam pockets at either hip. The shoulder pads are detachable, and we're showing the dress with and without them. We're including the black vinyl belt but not the red one. The waist is the determinant measurement here - 26", the bust will fit up to 40", hips are full, sleeve (center back to end) 18", length 50".  Excellent condition.  $240
