1940s Embroidered Red & Black Dress

Its a lot more than movies and celebrity trends that keeps the classic forties silhouette coming back again and again. The cut is sexy and figure enhancing without being raunchy.  It's a style that really never goes out of style.  This woven birdseye-like cotton dress in a red and black check that looks brick red at 30 paces, has all the 40's detailing you expect and adore.  The wide set neckline has a draped scarf effect with the tails dangling over either shoulder. But the real showstopper is the off-white embroidered detail on the bodice, sleeve and shoulder.  Delicately accented with embroidered balls and set rhinestones - details that really make you understand why we will always love dresses from that era. The center back is pleated at the waist, creating a train effect. With a side zip closure, it carries a David N. Perlman label and, except for faint age darkening of some of the embroidery, its in excellent condition. Bust 37", waist 27", hip 40", shoulder 16", sleeve 8", length 42". $275
