1940s Bias Cut Silk Gown

Classic 1940s styling - the kind of dress you see floating around on grand dance floors in movies from that era - 'Ginger Rogers, dance on air'.  A multi striped silk bodice with a square cut neckline and short sleeves that are darted for fullness at the shoulder, but not quite puffed.  A fitted waist which eases out to a black bias cut skirt, consisting of silk chiffon over black acetate, with a bound lettuce edged hem. Side zipper closure.  Undoubtedly custom made, as the work is exquisite, and if you can find a seamstress with this kind of talent, we want their name. The dress has three tiny holes in the bodice at the waist (a belt would hide them, or just ignore them), and a couple in the chiffon at the hem, and a bit of color fade in the black stripe at the top of the left shoulder (see photo below). Still and all, a gorgeous dress in otherwise excellent condition. Bust 34", waist 27", hip 35", shoulder 15", sleeve 10", length 58". $265
