1960s Twiggy Dresses Crystal Pleated Gown

We have to extend a very big 'thank you' to fellow Vintage Fashion Guild member, premierludwig, for the extensive research provided on Twiggy Dresses. The clothing line came about after Lesley Hornby - better known as supermodel Twiggy - was asked in 1966 to launch a clothing label. Catering to the teen-age market (what a concept!), Twiggy actually wielded a good deal of input into the line, which consisted of things that Twiggy herself would wear.  Influenced by the designs of  Quant and Courreges, along with the styles from the Roaring Twenties that Twiggy loved, the line was highly priced and hugely successful, both in the UK and in the US, and prompted the subsequent launch of other Twiggy items -  including Twiggy Hosiery, Twiggy Lashes and Twiggy Eye Paint. In Tricel triacetate, this Twiggy Dress has an empire waist featuring a sleeveless white eyelet bodice with a scalloped lower edge,  dotted with set rhinestones and faux pearls. The black skirt is crystal pleated, full and swingy with a lettuce edged hem. Fully lined with a side zip closure, the bust 33", hip 37", length 57". Has a repair to the edge of the hem, and a few scattered pinholes in the skirt, which are inconspicuous due to the black lining beneath, otherwise a fabulous Twiggy Dress in excellent condition.  $445
