1970s White Cotton  & Lace Dress

Images of saying your vows, barefoot on the beach, a wreath of orange blossoms in your hair, and a bouquet of wildflowers in your hand - that was a California girl's most wanted wedding in the 1970s.  Eschewing anything remotely "establishment", we strove for simplicity and naturalness - a ceremony of your own heart-felt words followed by a picnic wedding reception with an organic carrot wedding cake. Today - oh please, don't even get us started.  And will someone tell us - since when did bachelorette parties in Vegas become de rigueur??  Strains of "We've Only Just Begun" will play in your head the minute you lay eyes on this simple snow white cotton voile Guinevere style dress. The bodice consists of a layer of lace over the lining, cut in a wide, slightly off-shoulder neckline with a cut-work lace hanky edge overlay around the shoulder. The cotton voile skirt is trimmed with lace and eases into a flattering basque waist. A bishop sleeve closes at the wrist with a row of four faux pearl buttons. Has a back zipper closure and a handkerchief edged hem that echoes that of the shoulder treatment. Made by Jessica McClintock, this dress is so sweet and innocent, you will probably ditch the elaborate wedding plans and elope to Maui. Bust measures 38", waist 30", hip 41", shoulder (center back to shoulder edge) 10", sleeve 24.5", length 51" (54" to longest point of hem). Excellent condition.  sold
