1970s Holly Harp Pale Pink Jersey 'Fairy' Dress

Holly Harp was a woman after our own heart.  She designed with an eye toward another era, and working in matte rayon jersey, created some of the most softly romantic, sensuously clingy dresses since the 1930s.  Her dresses hug the body, not in an overtly sexual way, like say, Alaia, but rather in a more subtle and suggestive manner.  Like chiaroscuro, this dress is all about revealing and concealing - as ethereal as a fairy.  Pale pink jersey, the dress is cut in a long sleeved scooped neck style, which reminds us of a ballet dress. The bodice is covered with a bib overlay of sheer pale gray silk chiffon, shot with irridescent threads in a leaf pattern, so the dress winks and sparkles with movement. The sleeve has a gathered shoulder sporting a pair of  flowers fashioned from both fabrics with a pearl 'stamen',. At the waist, a panel stretches across the tummy and is gathered at either side of the hip.  The dress is self lined, and slides on over the head with a zippered closure at the left hip.  The bib snaps at the right shoulder.  Bust measures Bust 38", waist 30", hip 37", shoulder 15", sleeve 25", length 39".  The dress is snagged on the left sleeve, and has a few scattered faint pinhead size light rust colored spots - one on each sleeve, and on the skirt - but they are all nearly indiscernable. Even so, the dress is a fabulous example of Harp's work, and a magnificent dress in very good to excellent condition. sold
