1950s Houndstooth Coat with Velveteen Collar

A classic houndstooth pattern in ivory, black, charcoal and dove gray is elevated above the usual countryfied look with elegant accents of black velveteen - at the collar and inside facing edge of the placket, and also in velveteen covered buttons up the front and at the sleeve cuff - so that this coat goes from day to evening without a blink.  The cut is streamlined and feminine, with a slightly set-in shoulder and a tapered sleeve that has a pair of buttons to adjust at the wrist. Vertical pockets rest at either hip. Made by Marguerite Rubel, it is fully lined in black satin, and in excellent condition.
