Here's the thing about suede: In order to fully appreciate suede for what it is, you have to accept and expect that it's going to show wear. People get so finicky about suede, and refuse to wear it because they get hung up about keeping it looking like new. Forget about it already! It is inherent in the nature of suede that it is going to age with wearing. It's cowhide for crying out loud! The minute you pull that garment off the rack is the last minute it is ever going to look pristine. And frankly, we don't like our suede to look perfect. We think suede is a lot like denim - it gets better the more it is worn. Stop worrying, this one is already broken in for you, so you don't have to fret about those first few scuffs. A totally terrific military-style suede coat in a rich tobacco shade (don't let the color of the photos fool you - it is not chocolate brown, and the color is difficult to capture digitally). Yes, this baby is slightly distressed, most noticeably at the band of leather at the neck, which is a shade or two lighter than the other leather bands on the coat, but it only adds to the character of the coat, and since this is the look we like in our suede, we think it looks fabulous, not to mention that everyone who has laid eyes on it comments on its great look. Closes with four off- center gold toned oval textured buttons, and a covered snap closure at the neck as well. Inseam pockets at the hip. Fully lined in khaki brown acetate. If you want perfect, go to Saks and buy it new. If you want unique and slightly broken in, this coat is for you. Made in Israel for Stix, Baer and Fuller, it is, in our estimation, still in really great condition. Bust measures 35", waist 32", hip 38", shoulder 14.5", sleeve 22", length 40". Best on a modern size 4 to very slender 6. $325
