1960s Blue Wool Coat with Bow

As we well know, the adage, "The simpler, the better", certainly holds true when it refers to a certain fashion style. A style known by the names of the women who carried it off so well -  Audrey, Grace, Jackie (and, we would add Vreeland to that list) - a style  instantly recognizable for it's lean, classic lines and timeless appeal.  This coat is a wonderful example of what we're talking about.  Classic, elegant and timeless. Is it vintage or modern Marc?  Empire styling, in a super soft, weighty dark blue felted wool, the edges are bound in violet blue satin.  Open front, it closes with a small hook at the neck, and another just below the bust, with a smart little bow snapping across the closure. The cut is slim through the bodice with a higher cut at the armhole, and a bracelet length sleeve. The back has a slit vent. Unlined, with all interior seams finished and bound in satin. Best on no larger than modern size 6, it carries a Nuesteter's label, and is in excellent condition. Bust 36"; hip 43"; sleeve 20"; shoulder 15", length 35".  $325
