1960s Jean-Louis Cadet Blue Wool Coat

Jean-Louis was one of Hollywood’s preeminent costume designers from the 1940s through the early 1970s. Among some of his memorable creations were the champagne colored, hand-beaded (over 6,000 of them) ‘naked’ dress Marilyn Monroe wore to sing happy birthday to JFK; and the strapless gown with the slit ‘up to there’ for Rita Hayworth in ‘Gilda’. Jean Louis later began designing under his own label, and this gorgeous knee length coat is indicative of the impeccable quality of the pieces he continued to create. In a cadet blue double faced wool twill, the slim, clean line is defined by princess seaming, a high cut arm hole, welted vertical hip pockets, bound buttonholes, and a blue satin lining. Also carrying a Neiman-Marcus label, its in excellent condition. Bust 36, waist 34", hip 38", shoulder 16", sleeve 22", length 35".  sold
