1950s Copper Evening Swing Coat

Sure, this evening coat looks brown at 30 paces, but get closer and you see that the fabric is a dark metallic copper tafetta with a black thread woven in relief in a striking dot-on-dash pattern. The swing silhouette features an open front with a shawl collar, a slightly set-in shoulder with really wide sleeves, and a pair of vertical welted slit pockets at the low waist.  The perfect foil for your little black cocktail dress, it is lined in copper acetate. The bust measures a generous 46", with a sleeve length center back to cuff of 30", and a length of 44". The generous cut will accommodate a modern size 6 to perhaps a slender 12. Bearing a Marston Company of San Diego label, it is in excellent condition.  $285
