Vintage Red Silk Chinese Coat

Too gorgeous to be saved for the boudoir, this long Chinese coat is perfect as an evening coat.  Lustrous apple red silk is embroidered with chrysanthemums in cornflower blue, jade green, chartreuse and salmon pink with touches of pale yellow on cherry blossom branches. It has deep, curved pockets at either hip with the bodice, pocket welt and deep fold back cuffs quilted in a decorative wavy pattern, and closing down the front with four red and white frogs. Fully lined in red silk, it is slit up the sides to about the knee, and is quite the entrance maker worn either as an evening jacket or on it's own as a gown. The last set of frogs (the fifth set, at about the top of the thigh) is missing the closure on the left side, otherwise it is in excellent condition. Made in Hong Kong.
