1960s Bonnie Cashin Mohair Wrap Coat

Bonnie Cashin was a designer who steadfastly designed from her heart.  Believing that clothing (and accessories) should be comfortable, functional and beautiful - (and that's all at the same time!), she designed with a true artist's creative eye and love of beauty.  That's what makes Cashin's pieces every bit as wearable today as they were 40 years ago - maybe even more so. Her pale buff ivory mohair wrap coat with its enormous shawl collar is every bit as warm and enveloping as it is gorgeous to gaze upon, inviting you to snuggle in and stay awhile in terrific style.  Trimmed in French vanilla leather, it closes with a narrow leather 'cord' belt which threads through a brass keeper at either side of the waist and is knotted at the end. It has a raglan shoulder, with an inverted pleat in back running the length of the coat. Oversized inseam pockets are topstitched in a subtle quarter moon design at either hip. Made for Phillip Sills, its lined in the palest peach crepe. Sized for a modern 6 or 8 with a sleeve length (center back to cuff) of 30" and length of 45". There is wear to the brass keepers, a nick in the mohair the size of a grain of rice on the back of the right sleeve close to the cuff, and a small fray on the lining, otherwise excellent condition. $585
