1970s Plum Velveteen Midi Coat

For us, the Midi coat will forever be the look of the coolest girl in high school. Just a year ahead of our class, she was light years beyond us in worldliness - frosted stick-straight hair,  midriff halter tops with low hip-huggers and leather thong sandals (at school, mind you) - and topping the whole thing off with a fabulous velvet midi. No one dared even try to emulate her, so her look became elevated to an iconic status. This plum velveteen midi is double breasted, with a self belt to tie at the waist, slanted flap pockets, belted cuff, back vent, and beautiful deep plum satin lining. This one would do any hip chick proud, frosted hair or not. Made by Ethel Pear for One Up. Minor crush at the sleeve, otherwise excellent condition. Bust 39", hip 43", shoulder 15", sleeve 23", length 46".  $225
