1960s Sand Leather Coat with Contrast Stitching |

Very smartly styled this one. We don't often see lighter colored leather coats that we could call intellectually stimulating. Unless its a Cashin design, they usually have a little too much of the "Hooker-in-Las Vegas" thing going for our taste. This baby's a different breed altogether - beauty, brains and high-class style - more like a Playboy's Women of MENSA kind of package. Single breasted style in a pale, sand colored butter soft leather, it buttons down the front with wooden buttons, of which smaller versions also adorn the faux breast pocket and the flaps of the hip pockets. Dark brown contrast stitching against the pale leather heightens the interest, and a wide stitched waist band gives it a health dose of sex appeal, so it doesn't come across as too highbrow. Buttoned half belt and an inverted pleated vent in back. Made in Spain for Ledapain by Gropper, with some scattered holes in it, the rayon lining has seen better days, but nothing that we couldn't live with ourselves, otherwise the coat is in excellent condition. Bust 36", waist 32", hip 36", shoulder 15", sleeve 23", length 41". $165
