1980s Calderon Black Leather Belt with Gingko Buckle

The Calderon Bag & Belt Co. was started in 1946 by husband and wife team, Murray and Belle Nathan. By the end of the 1980s, when the Nathans sold the company, they were selling $20 million in handbags and belts a year. The quality of Calderon was so high, in addition to manufacturing their own accessories, they also produced stuff for other companies - the largest and longest running licensee being Anne Klein. This belt was made by Calderon for Clara, the adjustable strap is black leather 1 1/2" wide, set off by a sculptural, textured gold toned gingko buckle. The belt buckles via a pair of hooks on the back side which hook into a corresponding pair of holes in the strap. A fine example of Calderon's work at their peak, this will fit a waist 27 1/2" and smaller. Excellent condition. $75
