1980s Slim Black Alligator Belt with Deco Buckle |

Every well equipped wardrobe should have a
basic alligator belt, or so say some of the "how to" books on
"successful" wardrobe building. Well, we think that's a
good idea, but we don't necessarily agree with the idea of
"basic". We do, however, like the notion of taking
something as eternally chic as an alligator belt and punching it up with
a really eye-catching buckle. This slim belt in black alligator
has a hefty buckle consisting of a matte gold toned free form design
over a black elliptical disc, which in turn sits over a gold toned metal
elliptical base, with two screws holding everything together. The
buckle has a prong and metal keeper on the back through which the tab
end of the belt inserts, and an alligator belt keeper to contain the tab
end. It is a beautiful and enormously functional solution to the
standard belt buckle, which typically stresses a belt where the tongue
of the buckle goes through the hole. We know it sounds like
nothing, but if you've ever had to toss a beloved alligator belt that
couldn't be repaired at that stress point, you'll appreciate the
thoughtfulness of this design. And with a width of .75" and a
circumference of 29" to 33", this can be worn by a wide
variety of waist sizes, so there is no excuse to be ill-attired any
more. Made in Italy by Hamilton Hodge for deVecchi, this baby is in
excellent, if not mint condition. sold
