1950s Renoir Sculptured Copper Belt |
||

|
This piece is more a work of
art than merely a belt. By that we mean, if all you are looking
for is something to hold up your pants, well obviously this ain't gonna
do it for you. But if you view your body as something to be
adorned; something that serves to display beautiful clothing and
accessories - as opposed to the trite idea that clothing is just
something to cover yourself, then you will definitely appreciate this.
Designed by the jewelry manufacturer, Renoir, two strips of copper are
riveted together and criss-cross at the side, with a vertical strip
attaching the two strips at the back. A loop of copper chain hooks at
either end in front to close the belt. Designed to sit at the hip, this
piece is beautiful accented against the backdrop of black wool or silk
jersey. With a circumference of 30" it is in excellent
condition, with intentional verdigris at the rivets $105
